About Us

The AGBU London Young Professionals team aims at preserving and promoting the Armenian identity and heritage through educational, cultural, and humanitarian programs. It also encourages collaboration and joint advancement of Armenian professionals within their local communities.

YP London was established in 2005 and was recently re-branded. Since then, the team has grown and acquired new members from London and all over the UK. This team works to create an exciting environment that encourages fellow Armenian professionals to network and become active members of the community.

The re-launch of YP London was given from the 2nd Pan UK Armenian Youth Conference. YP group hosted this event on the 9th of May at London Metropolitan University. The purpose of the conference was to provide UK Armenian youth organisations and active community members the opportunity to establish a framework, which will make it easier for Armenian groups and individuals to work together, share information and collaborate on projects in the future.

Armenian Youth groups from across the UK were represented and led the discussions on a variety of issues concerning Armenian youth, including language issues in the Diaspora. One of the main outcomes of the conference was agreement to establish an independent Pan UK Armenian youth database that can be used by all groups and organisations to promote Armenian events in the UK, thus, becoming a tool for the consolidation of the community.

YP London has also contributed to organizing the Pre-Election Conference: “Meet Your Candidate: The European Parliament and Armenians in the Next Legislature of the European Parliament”. The main goal of the conference was to discuss EU policy of interest to Armenians and prospects for the next legislature. The conference hosted representatives of major parties and other honorary guests, such as Baroness Cox. This event raised awareness of the issues that are of great concern for the Armenian Diaspora.

A number of other social activities such as cookery workshops, sports events, Armenian holiday celebrations, exhibitions and other events are already planned. As a growing team, YP London always welcomes young Armenians living in the United Kingdom for taking part and actively contributing to its initiatives.
